On November 21, 1931 George Nichols opened
Ye Goodie Shoppe at 153
Main Street in Keene, New Hampshire. Mr. Nichols' slogan was
"Where you can see your candy made." Today you will still
see your candy made at
Ye Goodie Shoppe.

Ye Goodie Shoppe has changed ownership only three times during its seventy-year
history. A move to the brick house at the Colony Mill Marketplace in 1985
afforded the opportunity to provide a kitchen more visible to the public, as
well as a larger retail area. The business took advantage of both of these
opportunities, creating a viewer-friendly work space including the kettle
area of the kitchen, and by offering an expanded selection of candy and
gifts in the showroom.
Today
You may not find chocolates for sixty cents per pound, but you will find
chocolates made by hand with attention to detail. An orange cream
chocolate today will taste just as it did "back then". We ensure this
tradition by maintaining the same recipes and by using much of the same equipment
that was used when the store first opened.
While the candy has stayed the same, other parts of the business have
evolved over time. Sales and the number of employees have grown each
year and mail orders from across the country have increased significantly.
The store offers a greater variety of novelty items and gifts, and special
occasion favors have gained in popularity. Various organizations now use
custom products from Ye Goodie Shoppe for their special programs and events.
No matter how much the outside world changes
and the business may grow, customers will always be able to count on the same
delicious hand made chocolates and outstanding personal service that is
Ye Goodie Shoppe.
Proprietors Jason and Andrea Smart invite you to come by and see what's cooking
at Ye Goodie Shoppe.
